About Us

Ebony Legends was formed in March of 1999 with the purchase of a Friesian gelding named Hermod.  It soon grew to two horses by July and by the end of the year we owned 4 wonderful horses.  In 2000 we imported 3 more horses and had 2 foals from the mares that were imported the previous year giving us a total of 8 horses.  In 2004 we expanded our interest to include the Gypsy Vanner with the purchase of the stallion Double Stuffed Oreo. All of us at Ebony Legends are in the business for our love of horses. We have set high standards for ourselves, our horses, and those individuals interested in purchasing one of our horses. We believe these horses to be extraordinary and are dedicated to matching the right horse with the right person or family. We love every horse that comes to us and will always protect the trust these animals instill in us.

Our mission is to import and breed quality horses with the intelligence, temperament, and gaits necessary to compete in the dressage arena. The steps we take to insure these qualities are both expensive and time consuming, however we believe our extra efforts to be sound business practices.

Ebony Legends is dedicated no only to preserving the breeds we represent, but also strengthening them through knowledgeable and responsible breeding practices. As members of FHANA, FHS, and GVHS we respect and abide by all breeding rules and regulations of each registry. Having said that, it is our belief that you can produce superior sport horses through selective out crossing of individual stallions. However, we must make it perfectly clear; we never under any circumstances out-cross any of our Dutch registered Friesians, as it is FHANA’s goal to keep the breed pure.  We do cross our Gypsy Vanner stallion as the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society has the Gypsy Book and another registry for Gypsy crosses that his out-crossed offspring will be eligible for.
