Didi Duncan of Higby, Arizona imported Double Stuffed Oreo, originally Surprise, to the United States from France at 6 months of age.  Due to a fatal illness, Didi had no choice but to sell her horses and offered Oreo to her friends here at Ebony Legends.  Oreo arrived in California on March 20, 2004.
 
Oreo immediately became a member of the Ebony Legends family, which at the time consisted of 11 Friesians.  He has since stole the hearts of everyone who meets him. Initially we were uncertain as to what we were going to do with him since our focus was Friesians.  As we got to know him better and his personality began to shine through we had no other choice but to include him in our dressage training program. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances everything came to a screeching halt, training stopped and most of our horses were sold in an attempt to survive the economy.
 
We are back, and moving forward.  Oreo has been in training with Lyn Ringrose-Moe and Ellen Eckstein for several months and has proven himself to be highly intelligent as an over achiever.  He surprises his rider, Janet Oakes, every time she rides him.  Oreo loves to get out and go to work and he works with his rider to figure out exactly what it is she is asking.  He is kind, gentle and remains calm even in the presence of mares. 

Oreo began his show career this year, and his first time in the Dressage ring brought success yet again.  He acted like an experienced show horse and it reflected in his scores.  Oreo scored 64.8% at Training Level and was a judge and crowd favorite.  Look for him at recognized shows in Northern California this summer and fall.

Genetic testing has confirmed that Oreo is Homozygous Black and Tobiano with no red factor.
